5 Reasons You Need a Pool Enclosure

October 29, 2021 by Philip Kessler

Not everyone in Florida has a backyard pool, but the number continues to grow! There’s nothing like having the luxury of walking out your back door, dropping your towel on the chaise, and slipping into the cool, refreshing water. Many homeowners decide to erect a pool enclosure to provide them with the ability to enjoy their pool rain or shine.

That’s not the only added benefit though. We can think of five more and we’ll share them with you.

Privacy

That’s the number one reason that people enclose their pool area. Even if you love your neighbors, sometimes it’s nice to feel nestled away in seclusion.

That’s even the reason that people choose glass pool enclosures sometimes, believe it or not. The structures, themselves, seem to create an elusion of privacy. Still, in our opinion, the privacy factor speaks more to those who go with a mesh pool screen enclosure.

Especially, if the company that you’re working with provides their customers with the option to customize the screens. Darker colors would, indeed, provide more of a barrier to block anyone outside from seeing what’s going on.

Some companies, like ours, for instance, go a step farther in customization. We provide the ability to use any digital image to create the ultimate getaway spot for you and your family.

Imagine using photos from your favorite vacation spot. Or, perhaps, you’d want to envelope yourself in the beauty of the most beautiful garden you’d ever seen—as in you had to pull over and take pictures beautiful. The possibilities are endless but when you finally make up your mind, the environment you create could, quite literally, be breathtaking.

Safety

Having a pool brings serious responsibility. And, Florida law requires that swimming pools—other than “kiddie” pools—are surrounded by a fence.

According to the Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act (Chapter 515, Florida Statutes), which became law in 2009, all outdoor swimming pools must have a 4-foot fence or another barrier around the outer perimeter with no gaps or openings that could allow a small child access.

No one wants to risk an unattended child wandering into the yard and falling in the swimming pool! Or, what if your neighbor’s pet escaped… it would be horrific to discover that they’d made their way into your pool and couldn’t get out again.

Despite enforcing safety measures, Florida ranked fifth in the United States for the number of unintentional drowning deaths among children aged 0 to 17 years of age between the years of 2017 and 2019. Educating yourself and your family on the importance of water safety may seem like a no-brainer around here. Still, it doesn’t hurt to brush up on it now and then.

Less Maintenance

You have to admit that it’s no fun when you fail to get the pool covered when a fierce storm blows up out of nowhere.

Enclosing your pool area makes a night and day difference in the amount of time that you spend skimming and cleaning your pool.

They also make a difference in the amount of evaporation that occurs and how long your chlorine maintains its life.

Environmental protection

Wind, storms, sun, and, the salt content found in the air all play a part in degrading the surface areas in and around the pool. A pool enclosure shields the area from harsh environmental elements.

They provide a degree of shade, as well. That means you’ll have some protection from the sun’s damaging UV rays. The kids will love the fact that they aren’t getting pulled from the water as often to reapply the sunscreen.

Bugs begone

Do the bugs in the area all seem to discover your backyard when you’re planning to enjoy the pool with the kids? And, has there ever been a night swim without a hoard of mosquitoes swarming into the picture?

We’d say it’s safe to say not without loads of preparation and vigilance, there hasn’t.

A pool enclosure provides you with a barrier that bugs and mosquitoes won’t be making their way through. It will be an entirely different swimming experience without them.

You can trust us on that.

One last advantage to share

No matter where you are, your family is going to be making lasting memories because that’s what families do. Still, having an environment that you love spending time in is only going to increase the warm fuzzy feelings they stir up years down the road.

Pool enclosures

  • Meet required safety measures
  • Add a sense of privacy,
  • Provide your family with protection from the sun and annoying insects,
  • Keep debris out of the pool, and
  • Are durable and cost-effective

It’s also noteworthy to mention that a pool enclosure will increase your property value to some degree. Well-maintained pools can make or break a buyer’s decision to purchase a home. One with an awesome enclosure could sway the decision even more.

Until the day comes that you’re ready to sell, your family and friends will be enjoying themselves. Being together. That’s where our focus should be, for sure. And if there’s a pool involved in the mix, who is going to take time to argue the matter?
