If you speak to a homeowner who has recently blocked off their pool area, you may be surprised to learn that the added seclusion did more than they expected. Backyard pools have far more pros than cons—once you get the chemical balancing figured out anyway. Pool privacy may not seem that big a deal initially, however, after a while you may realize that there are days when you feel like you’re on display. It’s amazing how much more relaxing time spent at the pool can be when you feel like you’re in your own little getaway.
It would be great if every home in Florida came equipped with a backyard pool. Unfortunately, that’s not the case though. So there may be days when your family’s out enjoying the pool and your neighbor’s kids are peering through the fence longingly…
Of course, on most days that’s probably not a big deal and you invite them over. The more the merrier right? However, it may not always suit to invite them over to join in the fun. Or, maybe, behavior issues have put up a barrier between your children and those of your neighbors.
We hope it never happens to you, but sometimes a neighbor moves in who seems a little too interested in what’s going on in your backyard. Having pool privacy certainly could make a big difference in enjoying time with family and friends then as well.
Other reasons to build a barrier
The increased sense of privacy is the number one reason that people choose to shield their pool area from view. But it isn’t the only reason for doing so.
When you take the time to consider your design, pool fences, barriers, or enclosures look aesthetically pleasing. Our eyes are drawn to beautiful things creating a sense of well-being.
If someone in your family suffers from shyness, a pool barrier allows them to be more comfortable when they are outside near the pool. Whether sunbathing, playing, or swimming, they will have an increased sense of confidence. Enjoying themselves more because they aren’t fretting about people looking their way.
There’s also an element of safety that shouldn’t be overlooked. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission states that installing pool barriers and enclosures saves lives. Toddlers, especially, are in peril of drowning in a pool that is left unprotected. However, drowning is the second leading cause of death among children aged one-fourteen in the United States.
How will you choose to improve your space?
Some homeowners create their own barriers using lattice fencing which creates a barrier but still allows them to see into the pool when in other areas of the yard. Even though our kids grow older, it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on them in the water. Accidents happen. There are a plethora of other fencing options at your disposal as well.
You could build a wall out of brick, concrete, stucco, or stone. Your options are seemingly unlimited as to color and design.
Many homeowners decide greenery is the perfect choice for their pool privacy solution. You may choose to plant a row of trees or other foliage, such as bushes or vines, that will grow into a privacy border along the fence row. Again, you have seemingly unlimited options so get creative and enjoy the decision-making process.
If your neighborhood is a little on the noisy side, water features are wonderful additions to your backyard living area. The sound of water is alluring to most of us creating a sense of well-being and relaxation. They also drown out the sound coming at you from beyond the borders of your yard.
One last option
Installing a mesh screen enclosure provides you with pool privacy and more. There are a number of reasons that this type of pool enclosure makes the perfect getaway spot for you, your family, and your friends.
They are attractive in their own right, but were you aware that some pool screen companies, like ours, for instance, offer a customization feature? Using digital imagery, the image that you choose is reproduced right onto the screens themselves. Only the best dyes are used in the process and they’ve been treated with added ultraviolet (UV) protection extending the life of your design for years to come. Creating a backyard getaway takes on an entirely different meaning with the unlimited options that digital imagery provides.
Mesh screen enclosures provide you with more than privacy though. They create a barrier for bugs and mosquitoes. We have to pause on that thought for a second… can you imagine spending time outdoors with no bugs? Wow! They keep snakes, lizards, frogs, and other small animals from finding their way into the pool too.
They provide protection from the sun and rain enabling you to sit outdoors whenever you’d like. The additional measure of shade works to protect your chlorine levels, as well. The sun won’t break it down as quickly as in the past. Your pool and the surrounding area will stay cleaner too. Storm debris will never be a burden again if you forget to cover the pool!
Speaking of the sun, patio furniture or pool chairs aren’t going to need to be replaced as often due to sun fade. That keeps your money in your pocket where it belongs.
Enjoying time with family and friends
No matter how you decide to provide pool privacy after it’s said and done, you won’t regret your decision to do it! You’re going to love your new retreat and so will your family and friends. You’ll be creating lifetime memories there for years to come. And, that is living the good life, indeed!
