The gazebo is a wonderful structure that can add shade, style, and class to any property. Tucked in with your deck or set out in the yard, it can be a delightful place to sit for an afternoon or to unwind after a long day. Make sure that you get the most out of your outdoor structure by including some smart lighting to it.
Follow the frame
Sometimes, simplicity is the best option. Using C7 Christmas lights, simply outline the roof and upper framework of your structure. If you want a softer glow, then just use the lights on every other upright support. You’ll give the seating area the soft illumination that it requires, and you’ll love the finished look.
Inside and out
Switch out the C7 bulbs for some smaller Christmas lights and then outline the full structure. Adding lights to the exterior roof line will draw more attention to this space and give your backyard some added visual interest. If you’re going to make your covered space shine, then you may want to give the surrounding landscape the attention it deserves. Some climbing roses or large flowering plants will look stunning along the outer perimeter of your lighted gazebo.
Commandeer the kids’ toys
If you have an old hula hoop hanging up in the garage, then you have the fixings for a fun and easy chandelier. Simply drape your white light strands all around the hoop. Be sure to let plenty of lights drape down over the edge for a more elegant look. Use some tape and rope to hang your new light fixture form the center point of your gazebo and you have an instant chandelier that’s fun, quirky and impressive.
String light and tulle for an elegant finish
Drape string lights along the roof of your gazebo, then tack sheer tulle fabricover the lights. The result is a soft glow that’s romantic and elegant. If you’re worried about the fabric becoming dirty, then mount it using grommets so that you can take it down regularly and run it through the washer. Simple white or cream fabric is ideal, but you can give it a stunning colorful look by going with a sheer printed fabric that features vivid hues.
Indoor lighting safely used outdoors
One of the great benefits of a gazebo is that it does keep the rain out of certain areas. Consider adding a wall to one or two sides of the structure so that you can add a simple lamp. Paired with quality furniture and an outdoor rug, it’s a great way to bring your indoor style out to the patio.
When it comes to decorating your gazebo, look beyond the furniture and accessories. If you plan to use your structure after the sun goes down, then the right lighting is essential. The lights will also be handy if you want to sit outside when the weather is less than ideal.
