Time to Enclose the Pool?

February 3, 2022 by Philip Kessler

Yes, it’s only February and Punxsutawney Phil reportedly saw his shadow predicting six more weeks of winter. However, living here in Florida, if anyone has a good shot of bypassing that gloomy forecast, it’s us! If you’ve been considering sprucing up your outdoor living space—say, you want to enclose the pool, for instance—now might be a perfect time.

Enclosing the pool over the winter allows you to beat the springtime rush. Lots of homeowners wait until that time of year to schedule maintenance or make changes to their property. You’re likely to have a much shorter wait if you schedule your job now instead of waiting until things warm up a bit.

When you enclose the pool, you’ll be set to enjoy the warmer temperatures. No more looking longly through the patio doors at the pool on a rainy spring day. Instead, you can sit poolside and watch the kids frolic or dive in and join the fun!

Installing a pool enclosure provides a degree of protection from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays too. That means you won’t be dragging the kids out of the water as often to reapply sunscreen. They’ll be thrilled with that plan… and your pool will stay cleaner because sunscreens and oils are huge contributors to “ring around the pool.”

The clean scene

If you don’t have someone who comes to take care of the pool on a regular basis, you know how much time you spend skimming and filtering the pool to keep debris from accumulating. When you enclose the pool area, dirt and yard debris stay outside instead of finding their way to the pool.

You’ll see a huge difference when those spring and summer storms roll through your area too. There’s going to be a lot less time spent cleaning up.

Overall, enclosing the pool makes a difference in your water quality as well. Dirt and debris deteriorate in the water causing a breakdown in the chemical balance. That’s when pool water starts to look murky—or worse—turns green.

Private matters

The number one reason that homeowners decide to enclose the pool area is to provide an area of privacy for friends and family to enjoy.

It’s amazing the difference that it makes. And, if you’d like to take things a step further, some companies, like ours, for instance, offer customers a customization feature. Installing customized privacy screens is becoming increasingly popular. And, why not? It allows homeowners to create a truly unique space for their loved ones to enjoy.

Just imagine the possibilities! Love the beach? Surround yourself with sea and sand! Does your idea of lavishing in luxury include being in the center of a tropical paradise? No problem.

You can use any digital image from your own personal library or search through a catalog of images the company has on file.

Bug blocker

Since we’ve got you using your imagination to envision the possibilities of creating a truly unique backyard getaway, add this to your mental image—

There’s not a bug in sight. Not one.

You can dine outdoors without flies swarming your food. You can sit poolside—at night even— without saturating yourself with insect repellant so you aren’t constantly swatting at mosquitoes.

Pool screen enclosures allow free airflow but keep all manner of bugs away from your gathering—no matter if it’s day or night, rain or shine.

The safety feature

Enclosing the pool area allows you to let your children and pets play freely in the backyard without having to worry they’ll fall into the pool if left unattended for a bit.

You can set the area off-limits as easily as locking the door to block their access.

It brings an added sense of peace of mind—especially if the pool’s off-limits when you’re having an outdoor gathering. The pool can act as a magnet to some children who might then feel compelled to investigate it even if they’ve been told to stay away.

There’s a lot to be said for the old adage “better safe than sorry.” Especially in this instance, right?

Worth the investment

Upgrading your outdoor living space by enclosing the pool area is going to increase your property value to some degree. How much depends on the size and other factors, such as the materials used, for instance.

It’s definitely going to be something that increases the value as far as your family’s comfort level is concerned though! It’s likely to become everyone’s favorite spot in the house—immediately! And, that can only mean one thing in the long run, you know.

Lot of memories that will last a lifetime.
